Daily Scripture Reading:

  • Proverbs Reading: Read a chapter of Proverbs each day based on the day's date (e.g., Proverbs 1 on the 1st, Proverbs 2 on the 2nd).
  • SOAP Method:
    • Scripture: Identify a verse or passage that stands out.
    • Observation: Reflect on what the passage is saying. Note the context and any specific insights.
    • Application: Consider how the passage applies to your life and work today. Write down specific actions you will take.
    • Prayer: Pray for understanding and the ability to apply the passage in your daily life.

Practice Stillness:

  • Set Time Aside: Dedicate 15-30 minutes each day for quiet time with God.
  • Minimize Distractions: Find a quiet place, turn off electronic devices, and focus solely on being present with God.
  • Meditate on Scripture: Use a verse to center your thoughts and listen for God's voice.

What to ask for:

  • Start with Listening: Begin your prayer time by asking God to speak to you and then be silent for a few minutes.
  • Pray for Discernment: Ask God to help you discern His voice from your own thoughts and external influences.

Journaling:

  • Daily Entries: Write down any thoughts, impressions, or words you believe are from God during your quiet time.
  • Reflect Regularly: Review your journal weekly to see patterns and confirmations of God’s guidance.

Seek Wise Counsel:

  • Identify Mentors: Choose mentors or advisors with proven godly wisdom and integrity.
  • Regular Meetings: Schedule regular meetings with them to discuss your decisions and seek their input.
  • Evaluate Advice: Weigh their counsel against scripture and what you sense God is saying.

Practice Obedience:

  • Immediate Action: Act promptly on the guidance you receive from God, even if it’s challenging or counterintuitive.
  • Trust in Outcomes: Trust that following God’s guidance will lead to positive outcomes, even if they are not immediately apparent.

Ask Different Questions:

  • Change Your Approach: If you’re not receiving clear guidance, ask God different questions such as, “What do you want me to learn from this situation?” or “What is your perspective on this issue?”
  • Listen for Answers: Be open to receiving answers in unexpected ways.

Regular Review:

  • Weekly Review: Set aside time each week to review your journal entries and prayer times.
  • Identify Patterns: Look for recurring themes or messages that indicate how God is speaking to you.

Utilize God's Creation:

  • Nature Walks: Take regular walks in nature to observe and reflect on how God speaks through His creation.
  • Creation Reflection: Use time in nature to meditate on God’s greatness and listen for His voice.

Intentionally Turn Aside:

  • Pause During Routine: Make a habit of pausing throughout your day to turn your attention to God, much like Moses turned aside to see the burning bush.
  • Create Reminders: Set reminders or alarms to pause and acknowledge God’s presence.

Follow Peace:

  • Peace as a Guide: Use the presence or absence of peace as a guide in decision-making. If you feel peace, proceed; if you feel hesitation, reconsider.
  • Hesitation Check: When faced with a decision, check for any internal hesitation or unease as a sign to pause.

Daily Application:

  • Integrate Faith: Apply what you hear from God in your daily work decisions, from small tasks to major business decisions.
  • Consistent Practice: Make it a consistent practice to seek God’s guidance and apply it in all areas of your professional life.

Embrace Intimacy with God:

  • Prioritize Relationship: Focus on building a close, intimate relationship with God rather than just seeking instructions.
  • Deepen Knowledge: Spend time getting to know God through prayer, worship, and studying His word.

By incorporating these detailed steps into your routine, you can cultivate a practice of consistently hearing and responding to God’s voice in your work and life.
